In the construction industry, glass is one of the most expensive and fragile components to replace once installed. Architectural Glass Protection Film is a high-performance, temporary barrier designed to protect windows, glass facades, and interior partitions from the myriad of hazards present on a job site. From cement splatter and abrasive dust to paint overspray and welding sparks, the risks are constant. Traditional methods like taped-on paper or cardboard are labor-intensive and often fail under wind or rain. Qida’s glass film, however, provides a full-surface, weather-resistant "skin" that remains securely bonded until the final handover.

Our glass protection films are specifically engineered to solve the "adhesive-glass interaction" challenge. Glass surfaces, particularly high-performance "Low-E" or reflective coated glass, are chemically sensitive. Standard adhesives can react with the metallic oxides in the glass coating, causing permanent haze or "ghosting." Wuxi Qida utilizes ultra-pure, UV-stabilized acrylic adhesives that are formulated to be chemically inert. Furthermore, we recognize that glass on a construction site is often exposed to direct sunlight for months. Our films are reinforced with high concentrations of UV inhibitors to ensure the film does not become brittle or the adhesive does not "bake" onto the glass, even in high-heat environments. By applying our 60-micron or 80-micron films, developers can significantly reduce the "punch list" items at the end of a project, avoiding the high cost of glass polishing or replacement.

  • Q: Is this film safe for "soft-coat" Low-E glass?
  • A: Yes, but only our ultra-low tack version (below 15g/25mm). Soft coatings are very delicate; we always recommend sending a small glass sample to our lab for a compatibility test before bulk application.
  • Q: How do I remove the film if it was left on past the 6-month UV rating?
  • A: If the film has become brittle, use a heat gun or steamer to gently soften the adhesive and peel it back at a 180-degree angle. For any remaining residue, use a citrus-based adhesive remover.
  • Q: Can the film be applied to the interior and exterior?
  • A: Yes. Our film is designed for both. However, the UV rating primarily applies to the exterior surface. Interior glass film can often stay on for much longer (up to 12 months).
  • Q: Will the blue tint change the color of the glass permanently?
  • A: No. The blue pigment is inside the PE film, not in the adhesive. It has zero chemical effect on the glass or its coatings.
  • Q: Does it protect against welding sparks?
  • A: While it provides a barrier, a heavy welding spark can melt through PE. For high-intensity welding areas, we recommend double-layering or using a dedicated fire-retardant welding blanket.
