A unique technical challenge with natural stone is the moisture trapped within the material. If a non-breathable plastic film is applied to a damp stone slab, the moisture can become trapped, leading to "blooming" or permanent discoloration. Wuxi Qida offers specialized "Breathable" film options that allow for vapor transmission while still blocking liquid water and dirt. Our adhesive systems are specifically formulated for "low-surface-energy" stone, providing enough tack to stick to a polished slab but ensuring zero residue is left in the pores of the stone upon removal.   • Q: Can the film be used on unpolished or "honed" stone?
  • A: Honed or textured stone has less surface area for the film to grip. For these surfaces, we recommend our "High-Tack" stone film (250g+ adhesion) to ensure it stays in place.
  • Q: Does the film provide protection against acid etching?
  • A: Yes. The PE film is chemically resistant to acids. As long as the film is in place, acidic spills will stay on top of the film and not reach the marble surface.
  • Q: Is the film safe for white marble (like Carrara or Statuary)?
  • A: Yes, but we always recommend our "Low-Residue Acrylic" version. For white marble, it is critical to use a film that has been tested for non-yellowing.
  • Q: Can I use this on a stone floor with underfloor heating?
  • A: Yes, as long as the temperature does not exceed 50°C. If the floor is hotter, the adhesive may become too soft.
  • Q: How do I remove any trapped air bubbles?
  • A: Use a soft rubber roller during application. For large slabs, start from the center and roll outward to the edges for a perfect, bubble-free bond.
