One of the most complex challenges with plastic sheets is "outgassing." Freshly extruded plastic panels often release gases for several days; if a non-breathable film is applied too early, these gases can get trapped, forming unsightly bubbles or causing the adhesive to bond too aggressively. Qida’s plastic protection films are designed with a specific molecular porosity to allow for gas transmission. Additionally, we offer both "Self-Adhesive" co-extruded films and "Glue-Coated" films. Co-extruded films are the gold standard for high-gloss acrylic as they contain zero glue, eliminating any chance of adhesive residue. For textured plastics like ABS or grainy PVC, our glue-coated versions provide the high-tack "wetting" required to maintain a secure bond during CNC machining or laser cutting.

  • Q: Why does the film bubble a day after I apply it to my plastic sheet?
  • A: This is likely "outgassing." Many plastic resins release gas after extrusion. You should wait 24-48 hours before applying film, or use Qida’s specialized breathable film which allows gases to pass through.
  • Q: Can I leave the film on while laser cutting?
  • A: Yes. Our films are compatible with CO2 lasers. For fiber lasers, we recommend our specialized high-density films that don't melt at the edge.
  • Q: Is the film safe for heat bending?
  • A: Yes, but only for short durations. If the plastic is heated to the point of softening, the film will also soften. Our "Thermoforming Grade" is designed to handle this without bonding permanently.
  • Q: What is the difference between PE and paper masking?
  • A: Paper masking is traditional but cannot be seen through and can leave "fibers" behind. PE film is transparent, recyclable, and much cleaner for high-precision parts.
  • Q: How do I choose the right adhesion for a matte-finish plastic?
  • A: Matte surfaces require more adhesive to "fill" the texture. We recommend a tack level of at least 80g-120g/25mm for consistent performance on matte PVC or ABS.
