Unlike standard films, our marine-grade solutions utilize specialized UV-stabilized adhesives that can withstand the intense solar reflection from the water’s surface. We provide both clear films for interior luxury finishes and heavy-duty black-and-white (B&W) films for exterior hull protection. The B&W variant is particularly effective at reflecting solar heat, preventing thermal expansion of the metal or composite hull, which can interfere with precision alignments during the build. Our films act as a "sacrificial skin" against abrasive grit and chemical spills (such as anti-fouling paint or hydraulic oil), ensuring the vessel leaves the dock in pristine condition.

  • Q: Can the film be used on freshly painted hulls?
  • A: We recommend the paint be fully cured according to the manufacturer's spec (typically 72 hours to 1 week). Applying film to "soft" paint can lead to adhesive bonding or "ghosting."
  • Q: Will salt water affect the adhesive?
  • A: Our marine-grade solvent adhesives are specifically tested for humidity and salt resistance. As long as the edges are pressed down firmly during application, the film will stay secure.
  • Q: How long can I leave the film on outdoors?
  • A: For exterior hull protection, we recommend our Black & White film, which is rated for up to 12 months in direct solar exposure.
  • Q: Is it safe for teak wood?
  • A: Yes, but only with our specialized medium-tack breathable film. Standard high-tack films can trap moisture and cause the natural oils in teak to react, leading to staining.
  • Q: Does it protect against welding sparks?
  • A: It provides a physical barrier, but for heavy "hot work," we recommend using our 120-micron flame-retardant version for maximum safety.
