Comprehensive Shielding for Color-Coated and Pre-painted Metals

Pre-painted metals (PCM) are widely used in the appliance and building industries, offering a finished look right from the coil. However, these painted surfaces—often Polyester (PE), PU, or PVDF—must survive roll forming, stamping, and heavy handling. Pre-painted Metal Sheet Protection is a high-tenacity PE film designed to protect the color coating from scratches and tool marks. Without this film, the friction from forming rollers or the pressure from a stamping die would mar the paint, leading to costly re-painting or scrap.

At Wuxi Qida, our PCM films act as both a scratch barrier and a dry lubricant. We utilize multi-layer co-extrusion to provide a film that is tough on the outside and soft on the inside. A unique challenge for pre-painted metals is "gloss interaction." If the adhesive is not perfectly formulated, it can alter the gloss level of the paint (making matte paint shiny or gloss paint matte). Qida’s adhesives are tested to be chemically inert, ensuring that the finish remains exactly as intended after the film is removed. Our films offer up to 400% elongation, allowing them to stretch with the metal during the most aggressive bending operations without "stress whitening" or delamination.
